My Books!

6 minutes

Some books tell tales about a magical wood where a small child finds a toadstool that is likely to be the home of a fairy or an elf. Other stories may describe a scary dungeon where a woman is being held captive against her will. She escapes, using magic inherited from a distant relative.

Not all books will be fantastical and other worldly. Some favourite stories are about a day at the beach, or a meal shared with loved ones. Educational books, where we learn how to cook, knit, or plant a garden are popular too.

I have so many ideas for books that I would love to write. I have some published, as you know, and others are half written. Still more are rattling around in my head. I haven’t yet worked out a way to have enough hours in the day to write. Crazy, especially as it is only my hubby, a dog, and me, at home. I would love to be confident enough to organise the day so that I have a solid few hours to type furiously away on my keyboard. In lieu of that, I will keep stealing away the minutes when I can put pen to paper so to speak.

So far, my children’s books with a message are:

My Grandma

Lila loves visiting her grandma. She loves having afternoon tea with her and looking at photos of grandma when grandma was a girl. She loves their special cuddles and their time together. Lila is young but she knows this time together is precious. Together Lila and Grandma create new memories, playing hide and seek and reading books. Grandma smells like roses, which are her favourite flower. She knows grandma doesn’t always remember her, or her family. Early onset dementia from the eyes of a child. Suitable for young children, families and anyone who has a family member who has suffered from the memory lapses of growing older.

It’s Not Fair

Kay loves her family and her home just as it is. She doesn’t want to have to share her time going back and forth between her mum’s house and her dad’s house. Why can’t her parents just fix this? Maybe it is her fault? Did she do something wrong? Why aren’t her brother and sisters as upset as she is?
Separation and Divorce takes it toll on everyone in the family. It is important that children know that they are loved and safe, no matter what. Having two homes where everyone is happy, mightn’t be as bad as Kay first thought.
A book for emerging readers and the whole family to read and talk about the challenges and the benefits when family life changes.

My Witch Wisdom series has two books out and a novella:

Crone Wisdom

Time slips, portals, magic, witches in covens, raging storms and ancient mystical monuments. Crone Wisdom, is an eclectic mix of modern day single parent angst, sisterhood, and the complexities of growing older, all mixed into a cauldron with a touch of magic. We follow Stella and Luna discover magic, weaving their spells, travelling between Australia in 2023 to medieval Scotland in the seventeenth century and back. Part self help and spiritual guidance, part appeal to our children to forgive the transgressions of the older generation. We join Stella and Luna as they come to terms with the guilt and angst of losing their children, discover their passion, celebrate as they save the world and find their place in their world.
This book appeals to women of all ages. If you are fascinated by the natural world, the witchy world and have a collection of crystals, or a garden full of plants, this is the book for you. For mothers who have lost loved ones, or children who want to know what really happened, this one is for you. Wrapped up in magic, this is a story single parents will identify with. All the pain and regret of ‘what if’, and ‘I should have’ with a sprinkle of magic and dreams coming true. Elves, fairies and sprites. Urban paranormal, real life, midlife crisis, empty nest, divorce, menopause; just another day in the life of the hard working, persistent, kick ass women.

Ancient Wisdom

In the heart of a bustling city, where skyscrapers scrape the sky and the mundane conceals the extraordinary, Stella awakens to a world far away from medieval Scotland. Haunted by the fact she has no memory of how she ended up here, or why, she discovers an ancient magic pulsing within her veins. A power she must harness while not revealing herself to those watching her. Searching for a portal to return to her coven, Stella embarks on a journey of challenges. She must regain her lost memories and unlock the potential within her.
In Book 2 of the Witch Wisdom Mysteries, Stella has to rely on the kindness of others, while she figures out what to do. Not able to go home, or talk to her children, she navigates this latest mystery with the aide of a sprite assigned to keep her safe. Who is the hooded figure hiding in the bushes and what is behind the door at the back of the laundrette?

The Coven

Before there was Crone Wisdom there was The Coven. In the prequel to Crone Wisdom, we learn a little more about Luna and how she comes to terms with her abilities. Read her journey, how she deals with grief, loss and challenges that come with being a witch in the modern world. Finding herself back in medieval Scotland is the least of her worries.

But Wait – There’s More – The other novella, about Kai – will be out soon, although it may end up being a whole spin off series.

Spirit Town Paranormal Cosy Mysteries

My first book in the Spirit Town Cosy Series will be available soon!

In a town where those with supernatural gifts live alongside ordinary folk, what could go wrong? Preparations for the annual festival are well underway, when a series of incidents threaten to cancel the event. Beth won’t stand by and let some vandals or an incompetent mayor ruin the day. Are the vandals bored teenagers or is something more sinister afoot? Her second sight doesn’t appear to be working. She must figure out how to kick start her abilities, even if that means working with a community she had a bad experience with many years before. Will Beth and her friends solve the mystery before the festival fails?

I would love feedback – if you read any of my books – what do you think? Who are your favourite characters and why?

Whatever your day today is all about, may you get some quiet time to sit and read and enjoy a book!
