The energy of the full moon is magic. Just look at the amount of crazy anomalies that occur around the same time as when the moon is the brightest in the sky. More crimes, more visits to the emergency rooms, arguments, accidents, unexplained weirdness.
Is there a scientific reason? Maybe there’s a mystical one? Or are we all just using the moon as an excuse to behave badly?
I believe in the old traditions, even though I’m still learning them, having not grown up with a lot of witchy teachings. The elements of the earth, sky and sea are connected, and connected with spirit, with our essence. Windy days can make people cranky, out of sorts, or refreshed and renewed. The rain washes away negativity. The winter can cause depression, as we all miss the many hours of daylight we receive during the remainder of the year.
Many of the old traditions and celebrations are still practiced in many parts of the world. Gardening by the phases of the moon is a thing. If we pay a little attention over a few months, how the moon affects our moods and emotions, we may be surprised by the results.
On second thoughts, this time of year probably isn’t the best time to start keeping track of this. If you are an empath, like me. Being at the shops, or just outside generally, around a lot of people, empaths pick up on the moods, emotions, and feelings of other people.
While I am on the topic, society as a whole tends to be more tuned to emotions, than twenty years ago. We openly speak of stress, anxiety, and how we are feelings. Others will still bottle up their feelings, and say they are okay when they are silently battling demons.
I guess what I’m trying to say is, let’s try to be kind, this Christmas, and every day. We mightn’t know the stress and worry that burden our family and friends. Let’s not take it for granted that everyone is doing okay. Listening to another person can help lessen their burden.
Being kind to yourself is a good idea too.
Or just use the excuse ‘the moon made me do it,’ and see what you can get away with!
