Monday is here again. A brand-new week. The weather is hot here, but I still have boundless energy to get stuff done. Housework, gardening, work-work, writing, ordering books…and writing my blog.

Because it’s spring here, although with the thirty plus temperatures here it feels like summer, it’s time for spring cleaning. Years of living in rentals and moving, means I don’t tend to collect a lot of clutter. Even a couple of weeks ago I cleaned out my cupboard of things I’d collected, jars and boxes and containers. I go through phases of collecting and then culling the items.

I recently read a post about the benefits of decluttering. The process of decluttering can help us is a variety of ways – psychologically, physically, and financially. Positive side effects include reduced stress and anxiety, improved focus and productivity, and better sleep. By removing unnecessary items, we are creating a more peaceful and calming atmosphere. It boosts creativity, improves our mood, and even fosters healthier buying habits. Physically, decluttering helps to reduce allergens like dust and mould and encourages a more organised and liveable space. Decluttering in multiples of twenty-seven increases our vibration, attracting more to us.

I was so happy when I first learnt about this years ago. To realise I wasn’t crazy, when I felt better in a clean, tidy, uncluttered house. By clearing our house of unwanted items, we are passing the items on to those who can use them. We are also inviting the universe to provide us with new and exciting opportunities.

Decluttering can include old emails and computer files, unwanted thoughts and behaviours that no longer serve us. It can be weeding the garden, cleaning out the fridge, or going through unwanted books or clothes.

What do you think? Are you a collector? Do you cull items regularly? Somewhere in-between?

Happy Monday, I’m off to clean out my craft drawers!
