Happy Ostara or Mabon, depending on which side of the world you live on. It’s time to celebrate the Spring, or Autumn Equinox. Whether it’s new life and new growth, or harvest that feature on your altar, it’s time to own your power.
I say this, very much feeling Imposter Syndrome. It’s real. I mean, I struggle to get housework done, finish my plans for the garden, or get words written. Setting up my altar is way down on my list.
That doesn’t mean I’m not magic. I can weave words, I can grow plants, nurture humans in my womb, cook up a storm, stitch together a quilt, and clean a room like a pro. I just have a difficult time acknowledging my strengths, my power and my ability.
I’m not the only one. The world is full of people who bustle around, as confident as a multi-millionaire, others who are all about ‘fake it til you make it,’ and those who hide and hope no one notices them. Most of us are an eclectic hot mess of all the archetypes known to man (although few of us are multi-millionaires). Some days we own the room, and ooze confidence, the next day we curl up in a foetal position, hoping no one notices us.
But are we magic? I hear you whisper…surely that’s stuff of dreams, books, movies and television shows?
Let me ask you this – where do you think the authors, writers, and creators got their ideas from? I’m not saying dragon, aliens, mages, wicked witches and unicorns wander around in plain sight. That spark of imagination that creates such wondrous stories has to start somewhere, at least that’s my opinion.
Let’s celebrate the equinox, however you are comfortable. A book, a blanket and a cup of cocoa sounds nice. Or a picnic by the lake, the beach or in the middle of the deep dark woods. Gather around a cauldron with your witchy friends. Colour in with your kids. Date night with your husband. Whatever feels right. Create your own magic, and believe.
