It’s a marvellous, magical, motivational Monday here in my writing room. I’ve spent a couple of hours out in the garden, and I’ve pottered around in my craft room. I work the evening shift, so I’ve had time to write too. I’ve been editing, never one of my favourite tasks. I wrote 55 000 thousand words two months ago now. Some might call it procrastination, others might say it’s good to let the characters sit a little while before finishing.
Weeding is the same. This morning, I was considering whether to leave the overgrown flowering rocket for the bees, or remove it, ready to plant out new vegetables. It’s a choice, like whether to leave in a sentence, or describe my main character another way.
Where to place the cuttings in the sun, or part shade, how often to water the seeds, these are all decisions on me. These are the type of choices I like. There’s something peaceful about having my hands in the dirt, pulling out weeds, and planting new seedlings.
Using a needle and thread to attach trinkets to a ribbon, making bookmarks is either oddly therapeutic, or annoying. I honestly haven’t figured out which. I can’t wait to see what I come up with next.
At the beginning of the month, I promised a month of social media activity and lots of bookish things. Did I pull it off? Did I maintain momentum? There were a few glitches, but I think I did okay.
Now it’s back to editing, book 2 in my Misty Vale series. I’m not sure what it’s called yet, maybe Mayhem at the Midsummer Moonlight Masquerade. What do you think?
