It’s been a busy week, or so it feels like. I have two manuscripts out for beta reads, editing, and arc reading. I have covers sorted, and I’m working on our vegetable garden. There’s work as well. The other activities that’s been taking time, are the annual medical check-ups. It’s a little like getting the car serviced. It pays to have regular tests to check that all our body parts are still working well.
At my age, fifty something, it makes sense to make small changes for our health and wellbeing. We’re the lucky ones, to be growing older, and it pays to look after ourselves.
It’s not just about age. At all stages of our lives, we benefit from making small changes, to ensure we look after ourselves. Sharing a morning tea with friends, or spending time alone, to read a book or watch a movie, helps ensure we are rested and able to perform our daily tasks. Whether we have to look after others, or only have responsibility for ourselves, time out will enable us to live life the best way possible.
Hindsight’s a wonderful thing, and we can’t wind back the clock. Sure, I could’ve, would’ve, should’ve done things differently. Can’t go back, but we can learn from the past, from our experiences, and move forward fearlessly.
So, drink that cup of tea, read that book and watch the television shows that make us smile. We aren’t obligated to be on social media every minute of the day, or at all. Be missing in action, if it helps with body, mind, spirit, mental, and physical health.
I’m still learning. There’s no road map, or rule book for this life. Let’s forgive ourselves, turn up for ourselves, and care for ourselves. Spend time alone. Work out our own feelings, and what’s important for us. Re-invent ourselves if we need to. When we feel called to, reach out and check on loved ones.
Life’s a circle, a cycle, flexible, fluid, ever changing, like the seasons and the phases of the moon. It’s a gift, a challenge, and it can be fun too.
