I’ve been busy writing, as well as tidying up my website. A couple of novellas are nearly ready for reading, and some full length books as well. In the meantime I’ve written a short story – horror-esque – for a competition. Here is an excerpt. Let me know if you want to read the whole story – less than 3000 words.

“Can I look inside?” Frank reached towards the little handle to open the door of the black, gothic looking two storey wooden structure. “Ow! It bit me.” He drew his hand back in pain as an electric shot zapped his fingers. His arm convulsed involuntarily. The hex on what appeared to be a macabre child’s toy prevented anyone but me opening it. “You did that on purpose.” He reproached, his voice taking on that whiny tone he got when I asked him to stop playing fantasy war games and join me on one of my many adventures into the woods, or visiting old cemeteries. “I’m outa here.” He stomped off down the stairs. I heard the front door bang. I didn’t move for a moment, staring at the names on the little headstones in my doll house cemetery – Boris, David, Patty, Cheryl, Tom, Mrs Skittle, The Butcher, Hannah, Jenny, John, Mabel, Kyle, Duke. Beside the little shed sat blank marble tombstones. My fingers itched to engrave the next name on one. Not yet. Patience Beatrice. The next full moon was still a couple of days away. There was plenty to do between now and then. I tapped my finger on the little front door. “Soon,” I murmured softly. A little tapping, from somewhere inside the house, answered me.

This week I’m away in Melbourne, spending time with one of my daughters. It is so much fun catching up with her. We are walking A LOT and seeing the sites in Melbourne. So much to see and do. Spending quality time together. I didn’t even mind the longish trip to get to there. Four hours to drive closer to the airport on the day before the flight, catching up with family. Then a three am wake up call and drive into the airport to catch the plane. I wake early anyway – hubby not so much.
If you want to BETA read one of my stories, let me know. Yes the main characters are strong women with witchy tendencies. Yes there are mysteries involved.
Have a wonderful week – happy reading!
