We spent the weekend with the grandkids, and their parents, and it was lots of fun. Playing car games, colouring in pokemon and dinosaurs and visits to the local park. Sometimes it would be nice to live closer to the kids, and the grandkids. It’s a little difficult though, two sets of grandkids, and seven children who live far and wide. There’s no one place we could live that’s central to all our family.

This got me thinking, we have to be happy with where we are, who we are. We can’t please everyone, or be in several places at once. We can chat over the phone, online, over messenger etc – there are ways to stay in contact with who mean the world to us.

We also have to let others go, to follow their own dreams. It’s a tricky balance we live in this life as mother, father, parent, grandparent, loved one. While our families and friends can bring meaning to our existence, our search to make meaning for ourselves continues.

Who am I, without others? It’s a big question for the beginning of the week. It’s never too late to start figuring out what makes us happy.
