Let’s change the subject. Let’s turn the page. Let’s get onto the positivity train. Not the Pollyanna glad game, that’s for kids who are young and innocent and unjaded. I’m talking about the power of positivity. The raw power that gets us through the tough spots. That under utilised part of us that can move mountains and draw towards us either negativity or good stuff.

Life can still be challenging, people can and will disappoint us. All those things are outside our remit. It’s time to take back our control. We are in control. We don’t have to accept what other people expect.

Every day, or as many days as we can manage it, let’s smile and see the good and the fun in our lives. Grab a pen and paper and write an old fashioned bucket list. Plan some fun stuff in the future – experiences to look forward to. For the mundane tasks, write that list down too. For each achievement, celebrate, even if it’s even taking out the rubbish or hanging out the washing. It’s called making accountability work in our favour.

There’s no shame in standing up, brushing the dirt off our jeans, and starting again. Life’s full of second chances.
