Sometimes we don’t end up with the perfect family, happy endings or happily ever after. That doesn’t mean life is rubbish, it just means it’s turning out differently from how we imagined it would. We likely still have family members or friends who make life amazing. During our lives there will have been people who have made an enormous difference in our lives. I can name people without whom my life would have ended up very differently. People come into our lives during our journey and we are blessed to share their journey too.
Over the years we might move away, join new groups, develop new interests, or just get busy, distracted, and forget to talk to those who matter. This weekend is a reminder to make that phone call, write a letter, or an email and re-connect. If we can’t make that connection, we can spend a few minutes in reflection.
Thinking of lost family and friends, and remember the stories associated with those who matter. Write the stories down, tuck them away somewhere safe and read them from time to time to keep them alive in our hearts. Our parents, grandparents, our children, our dear friends, they are always close if we choose to remember them.
Plant a tree, make a photo collage, or whatever creative endeavour you feel called to, to express thanks for those who count in our lives. Find the bits and pieces to be thankful for in the daily grind.
It’s this gratitude that helps us to beat the blues, the energy of the new moon, bad moods, and all the yuck associated with missing someone. To be thankful every day is an amazing tip I learnt years ago. Try this – with each step you take, say thank you. Before long you will have said thank you hundreds of times during the day.
It’s the little steps we take.
Witchy Positive Vibes.
