It’s a little up and down, isn’t it? Life I mean.
I love seeing the kids. So lucky today to catch up on the Gold Coast for a brunch in a local park. I am so proud of my children, each adulting in their own way. It’s not an easy thing these days, so many stresses and pressures just to get on with life. At any age, there are things we worry about, decisions, life choices, trying to make our way in this world.
We don’t see our kids often, and today that makes me sad. It’s a part of life though, and just how things go. I think it is worse today as we try to work out where we want to live, knowing that wherever we choose we will be a distance from most of our children and grandchildren.
Do we choose to live somewhere where they may like to come and visit one day? Near a beach? We can pretty much fly, drive or travel to where they live. We could suggest we all meet up in a new destination for a holiday. Logically I know all that. I also know life doesn’t always go to plan. That’s okay. Most days uncertainty and adventure are okay.
We don’t have a place in mind where we want to live, well apart from Scotland, and that isn’t necessarily practical. We may even just buy a motor home and drive around. Once we have made a decision and we have somewhere to live, things will fall into place. I’ll have my office back, a garden to create, and markets to meet people. I may even find a part time job. Pete will have time to play in his man cave and his shed.
Thinking about our kids, I think it doesn’t matter how close or far apart we live, life will get in the way of visits, unless we make an effort. Maybe it is up to us, to live a life where we can travel, by whichever means are available, to spend time with them. To have an annual holiday for a day or two, to see a show, to play at the beach, to share a meal. Not live in each other’s pockets, just a time once in a while to share a meal.
The Easter long weekend is a time for family, friends, or relaxation. I’d recommend a book, a cup of tea and a chocolate treat. Thanks for listening. All good, take care.
Stay tuned for more news of our adventures!
