Yes, that’s right. Sarah and Pete, Aussies from regional Queensland travelled 24 hours in a huge aeroplane to discover the wonders of the Scottish Highlands. We were here twelve months ago, and it snowed, which was awesome, but it meant we couldn’t travel as far north as we had hoped.
This year, so far, fingers and toes crossed, we have made it further north.
We enjoyed a lovely three days in Dumfries – Southwest Scotland, with our new friends. We saw some castles, some beach, old stuff, historical buildings, and author inspiration like the house that inspired Peter Pan.
North to Fort William, past Loch Lomond and snow-capped mountains. An interesting place. It feels like an isolated town way up north, and I guess it is. It feels like I think it would feel way north in the snow and ice.
The next day we walked up close to the Viaduct that was used as the train bridge in Harry Potter. We continued north to Drumnadrochit and Loch Ness, having lunch before arriving in Inverness. This morning, we made it further north, nearly as far as we were hoping to get. We are going further north tomorrow weather permitting.
Amazing points of wonder, in addition to the Lochs, and the snow-capped mountains, that we were driving alongside the North Sea, and so many castles and old buildings full of history, stories and mysteries. So much inspiration for writing my children’s books and my witchy mystery books.
In a couple of weeks, we will be back in Oz, with amazing memories. We are blessed and fortunate to have this opportunity. I am excited to see what the rest of the year will bring.
