I am not writing this purely as an author. I am a mother, a wife and a friend. I have been a co-worker, a teacher, and confidante. We all have many words within us. Buried deep inside, or floating just below the surface, jumbling along, vying to get out and be heard.

It’s that balance – being heard and encouraging others to open up and tell their story too. It’s not all one way. Listening and communication are timeless skills.

What about body language? Those words not spoken. The signs and signals we use consciously or subconsciously, to tell our story.

February is de-clutter month. As well as cleaning out our cupboards, our gardens and our emails; we can also re-think how we interact with others. Let’s make it our mission to ask someone how they are feeling, and really listen to their answer.

Reading other people’s stories are a great way to learn about and celebrate our differences and our similarities.
