This might sound like new age, witchy woowoo clap trap, but it isn’t. I regret not knowing this, or learning this growing up and when I had my children. My life and parenting would have been totally different. It is one of the things that I have learnt as I grow older. One of the pieces of knowledge I want to share with as many people as I can.
Our energy. It is as real and unique to us as our fingerprints, our heart, and our soul. We have energy within us, which extends to form an outer energy field. Part of our aura that surrounds us.
We all know people who we identify as agitated, or angry, sad or enthusiastic. We feel their energy. There are other people we feel connected to. Others we dread being near them as they drain our energy.
Let’s think for a moment. We have an unique energy of our own. Our energy vibrates at a certain frequency. We know that the energy of others can affect us. It is then reasonable to expect that our energy can impact others. Our words and actions, we know they can harm or heal, don’t we? (Something else I wish I had paid much closer attention to many years ago.)
Try this activity: Hold your hands out in front of your body. As you bring your palms together can you feel the warmth? It’s your energy. If you concentrate on that feeling of warmth, you can send it to places on your body that need calming; a headache, sore stomach for example. You can also send your energy to others. Calming and healing energy only please.
I am aware that when I am angry, frustrated or upset my feeling creates thunderclouds you can practically see hovering over my head. Others cower, feeling my mood even if I am not able to articulate.
It is interesting that I am often told that I have a very calming and peaceful vibe that makes people immediately feel at ease. I don’t intentionally work on promoting that energy. I wonder what I could create with my energy if I really concentrated.
Protecting our energy is important if we feel drained and exhausted after spending time in crowds, shopping centres, family gatherings, sporting events or concerts. Much smaller gatherings can also take their toll.
Next time, before you leave home, try this activity. Visualise a beautiful purple cloak or coat. It can be as simple or extravagant as you wish to make it. Place it around your shoulders. Feel yourself disappearing into its comforting folds. Know that your energy is safe and protected from negativity as you leave your house and go about your daily activities.
