“Once in a blue moon,” is a saying referring to the rarity of something. Something that doesn’t occur very often. Just like it is rare to have two full moons in a month. The second moon can be referred to as the ‘blue moon.’ This week sees the second full moon of the month of August.
This second full moon occurs at the end of the month and also at the end of the season, winter, here in Australia. So what rituals can we do, to celebrate the full moon and the end of winter?
The ritual of using water, moon water if we have it, to wash our hands and feet and our face. We are washing away the negativity and the past. Having a bath or a shower, or getting into a body of water like the ocean or a river has the same benefits. Honestly whole water immersion is my preference, but if we can’t then the cleansing of our face, hands and feet is a good start. As we undertake this ritual, we think about the cleansing and the healing. Visualise the water healing us.
Set intentions. Focus. Be clear on what we want in our lives. Call to us that which we want more of. Lighting a candle, and burning incense to help us focus. Write on a piece of paper, and read the words several times during the day. What we pay attention to we draw into our lives.
Release what no longer serves us. Let go of old patterns and behaviours. Embrace the new you. Celebrate the awesome person you are. Full moon blessings to all.
