Is August the Start of Spring?
There is a witchy festival called Imbolc. In Australia this day is celebrated on 1 August 23. The seeds of spring start to stir in the belly of mother earth. Many farm animals give birth to their first offspring of the spring season.
Yes, I know it is still winter. It is still cold, although we have had some beautiful days here the last week or so. I guess mother nature doesn’t have to conform to our rules or expectations of the seasons. Nature is more fluid, whereas humans try to name everything and work everything out to set patterns.
So what if we celebrate the start of spring in winter? I think it is exciting. It reminds us that there is something to look forward to, that spring is coming soon. We celebrate the celtic goddess Brgid in whatever way we are comfortable with. A family meal, eaten around the campfire. Spring cleaning our homes, or weeding and pruning our garden. Plant some seeds or plants, or pick some flowers.
A symbol of spring. A celebration.
A full moon and extra energy to celebrate with. It is a time of expectation, of change, of love and laughter. A time to celebrate new life and being alive. A time to dream and manifest our dreams coming true.
