The older I get the more I understand the rhythm of the seasons and the cycles of the moon and how nature impacts our lives.

We have more energy and vitality when the days are longer and warmer. During the colder days, the shorter days, we prefer to snuggle up with a movie or a book.

Eating well, rest and exercise is just as important during the colder, shorter days. Think immune support, protecting our bodies from colds and flu (and covid). Soups, stir fries and hearty stews full of winter vegetables can provide a wealth of nourishment. Think one pot meals with all the vegetables we can find. If you don’t like the texture of the individual vegetables, you can mix it up in a blender for a more soup like consistency.

Herbal teas are another source of immune support. Lemon and ginger, with a dash of honey, or maybe peppermint, or chamomile, rooibos or green tea to name but a few.

Don’t forget the power of fruit juices and smoothies as well. Smoothies are awesome as we can add yoghurt, honey and even nuts and cereals. So much health and nutrition right there.

Exercise – stretches and walking are low impact ways to keep healthy muscles and joints. Magnesium oil or tablets can support our bone, muscle, joint health and ease aches and pains.

Let’s spend the cooler days keeping mind, body and soul nourished and healthy. A quote I saw during the week – “Let’s create a life we don’t have to run away from,”
