The weather has suddenly turned cold, even up here, where it is still as least twice as warm as some other areas. This is a timely reminder to share some tips for general health and immune support this winter

  • Even in the colder weather, drink up to between 2 and 3 litres of water a day
  • Limit drinks with caffeine, replace with herbal teas for a warmer drink on those cold blustery days
  • Include at least two pieces of fruit and three vegetables (leafy green) in our daily intake
  • Include garlic, ginger and turmeric in cooking
  • Regular exercise – walking is awesome
  • Get enough rest
  • Diffuse essential oils
  • Keep home clean – benchtops, door handles, whitegoods etc
  • Get fresh air and sunlight each day

Emotional wellbeing is just as important. Sometimes when we feel sick, we get stressed, and stress can cause more illness and sickness. This can be a crazy time. Add the colder weather, shorter days…cold…dark…windy…can mess with our head space.

In addition to the tips above, journaling can help us clear the cobwebs and brain whirl. Together with exercise, hydration, rest and healthful foods, writing down how we are feeling and what is going on around us, can benefit our mind, body and spirit.

Light a candle, wrap up in a blanket and let’s get the warm fuzzies going this winter.

Bonus Tip – mould management

In a spray bottle, add ¼ teaspoon of clove oil to 1 litre of water, spray the mould and leave it overnight. The next day wipe with a cloth of vinegar and water.
