The countdown begins. Whether or not we are religious, celebrate Christmas, are vaccinated, put on a big feast or help others, it is nearly the end of the year.

We can get swept up with the crazy, or we can stop, breathe, plan, relax and make every second count. Or realistically, be thankful for everything, and be as organised as we can!

For many of us, Christmas is a break away from work and school. Some will get together with family or friends, some of us may even get to travel. Sometimes it is peaceful, sometimes hectic, sometimes lovely, and sometimes lonely.

It could be full of people, television and movies, outside activities, parties, entertainment, craft, cooking, and lots of time to just relax.

The point is, there is no right or wrong way to celebrate Christmas. Be kind, to ourselves first, and others. Forgive, forget, and celebrate family and friends. Be creative, read, rest, renew, and recharge our batteries.

Let’s not get caught up in the hype of buying stuff this Christmas. I am thinking our ancestors had it sorted when they made gifts for each other and even made gifts and cooked together as a family or a community.

Also the trend of gifting our loved ones with experiences and travel vouchers, escape rooms, helicopter flights, mystery dinners, are a great idea as they create memories and don’t clutter our cupboards!

We don’t need the latest technology, the latest product from our favourite store or a five star holiday. Let’s consider all the options when deciding what to gift this year.

It is never too late to start a family tradition, to forgive, to start a hobby, learn something new, meet new people or make life changing decisions.

We are here for a reason, to make a difference in our lives, as well as those who join us on our journey.
