This week I thought I would share something a little different with you. Herbs and plants that we can harvest for making essential oils and teas etc have medicinal uses; and ways to support our emotional and physical health. I have shared many of these uses in previous emails. For those new to my email series, if you are interested in past editions please let me know and I will send you some of the information I have shared throughout the year.
Herbs and plants also have ‘magic’ uses. We can use them in spell jars, as part of incense, in spells and incantations. For some fun, and something different, here is a list of some of the magical properties of herbs.
Herbs Magic Uses
- Salt – protection, purification
- Pepper- banish, protection
- Cloves – prosperity, friendship
- Basil – money
- Rosemary – all purpose, love
- Thyme – approval, money
- Mint – love, money, healing
- Lavender – relationships, love

Using herbs in magic is similar to using for health or in food, the most important part is our intent. What are we intending to do? What is the outcome? We can use fresh or dried herbs in spell bags, spell jars, or smudge sticks. We can cut and use them fresh or dried. We can make herbal teas. Here are some ideas:
Business – basil cut fresh or plant in workplace, a few leaves in our purse or wallet
Employment – write intent on bay leaf and carry with you
Prosperity – write intent on bay leaf, crush basil leaves and sprinkle them around your house
Anxiety – fresh lavender under pillow
Sleep – sleep pillow with dried lavender, rosemary and thyme
Friendship – sachet or dried orange and lemon peel
Love – rosemary, mint, lavender – hang bunches in our home
Protection – sprinkle salt and pepper, in a circle outside, around our home
Courage – cinnamon sticks under your bed
Strength – acorn in your pocket, bay leaf in your shoe
Intuition – burn sage sticks (include rosemary and lavender)
