What a crazy roller coaster life can be sometimes. The challenges, dramas, adventures and daily life can distract us from our intentions and our goals. Despite reading, learning, knowing and practising our manifesting, meditating, setting intentions and taking action steps, we get caught up in the parts of life that takes our focus away.
For those who are empaths, we get even more easily distracted. Someone else’s energy and emotions can pull us away, and if we aren’t aware and aren’t centred, grounded and focused we end up on their roller coaster. Sometimes it can take days to get back to where we were before.
This year, everyone is feeling it, even those who are not normally empathic are getting drawn into the collective emotional over whelm. Without a frame of reference or an understanding or reason as to why we are feeling this way, a lot of people are anxious and left confused.
The media reports certain aspects of life and world issues, most of which are not good news stories. We all consciously and sub consciously get drawn into these types of stories if we choose to watch, read and listen to the range of media available. I have noticed a trend in some social media, which focuses on the positive good news stories. These stories on how normal ordinary people are helping each other, are getting more attention and notice, and the actions are infectious. Hopefully this continues to be a land slide of good news stories. Another positive trend is the growing awareness and therefore self awareness on our own mental health. In Queensland, and I am sure in other states too, there are advertisements on television as well, reassuring us we are okay, that it is okay to have a range of emotions, and to look after ourselves mentally as well as physically. I think this is a brilliant start to getting main stream understanding of the importance of emotional health as well as physical health.
I have learnt that hard way, after many years of panic attacks in shopping centres (not knowing why at first and thinking I was crazy) research and talking to others, that there are ways we can help ourselves, when we are feeling emotional but not sure why. This works as well for feeling emotional and knowing why. I am not talking about a miracle cure or healing, but simply some tools and tips for when we need to lift our moods and emotions and shake off the crazy negative energy.
- Sit (or stand or lay down, whatever feels right at the time and depending on where we are)
- Close eyes
- A couple of deep breaths in through our nose and out through our mouth
- Focus on how we are feeling. Can we name the emotion? Do we know where it is coming from? For example, our pet is missing, an argument with someone we love, not happy in our job, something is broken….can we link the feeling to something we are directly experiencing?
- If the answer is yes, set an intention to work through and resolve the part of the situation that is in our control and to let go of the part that is out of our control
- If the answer is no, set an intention to release the feeling, picture yourself physically pushing the feeling away with your hand. Next, picture a bubble forming around you, protecting you from unwanted energies and emotions. I like to picture a purple bubble of protection, but you can make it whatever colour you like.
Each of us have the ability to create our own positive super power energy. We are in control of our energy and emotions. Each time we check in with ourselves and find the source of the energy and feeling, we are growing the ability to create positive super power energy. Each time we set our intention, and feel the feeling of having achieved our goal, we are growing the skill. We don’t need any outside tools, although you can use a talisman or crystal to help focus. Our mind and our hands and our bodies are the only tools we need. We can master them if we try.
