This is Bloke. A cheeky, two month old, bundle of fur, cute Jack Russell pup. Pete’s pup Bloke. He is so small he is about the size of Pete’s boot, but with a podgy little belly. For a little bloke he sure can jump. A circus dog we think as he jumps up, to get to the lounge (unsuccessfully at the moment), to bounce up the back steps, and to lick C4 (the 10 year old unimpressed cat).

After a walk to the pub (where he is partial to a lick or two of Guinness), or to the Café to socialise, Bloke is ready for a rest, all worn out from his adventures. His favourite resting place is on Pete’s legs, on the lounge, as long as the television or music isn’t too loud. He will fall asleep anywhere though if worn out enough, under the clothesline, on the dog bed, or in the flower pot.

Bloke is a great guard dog. He barks at the neighbours, the sheep next door, or invisible things only he can see. The loud noise from such a small being confuses all the animals around.

Bloke is a vacuum cleaner where food is concerned. We are sure he inhales the doggy snacks he is given. He loves tug of war, with his bed and his tug of war toy, sticks and twigs or Pete’s thongs. He sniffs out all around the backyard, going to the very places where a little dog should stay away from. He helps dig holes, for fence posts, and sleepers. He checks out everything C4 the cat does, which earns him a swipe or too.

We are currently working on making the backyard Bloke proof, which is more difficult than you would think. He is ever so helpful digging up plants, or the random bathroom hand basin in the backyard. C4 (the cat) has taught him ways from the back to the front, so we are fixing that next. More adventures of Bloke to follow…
