Have you ever met someone and from the very first meeting felt like you had met before? More than that, felt like you had spent time with them, were connected to them somehow, though you definitely had not met them before? Are there others who you feel a strong bond and connection with, but you don’t understand why? Some people we immediately like and want to spend time with, others, for no apparent reason we immediately dislike and develop an aversion to. Why is this? Is it purely because people remind us of others and we impose those feelings?

I firmly believe the answers to all these questions is that we have lived before, and it is in these past lives that we knew, were related to, worked with, and spent time with the people we ‘recognise’ but can’t quite place. Some of us get ‘flash backs’, visions or memories of past lives and gain an understanding of why we feel we know people, and have spent time with people that are virtually strangers to us in this life. This I think also explains soul mates. For me, soul mates are those people we have connected with across lifetimes, who enter our lives, across lifetimes, again and again, for us to work with, make a difference with, create a future with.

I am not alone in this thinking. You only have to consider the plethora of books, movies and television shows on this topic. Outlander is one that springs to mind, but there are many others. Stories of people who have met in at least two lifetimes and who work together to achieve a common goal in each. Whether it be to win a war, fight against an injustice, or build a kingdom. Is it just that many of us have over active imaginations, or we have all existed before?

For example, I meet someone through my interest in essential oils, I make the connection on a spur of the moment decision, unsure why. As soon as I met the lovely lady, there is a connection. The empathetic characteristics, the challenges and ways of handling situations there is an intangible thread, connecting us. Another example is the barman at our local, a chance encounter and we meet someone who almost certainly is related to us on some level. We share the same thoughts and ideas on many things. Then there is the dear friend I met over thirty years ago. A connection through many years this lifetime and beyond. Another friend, met at the pub, was our brother in previous lifetimes, of this we are certain. These are just a few examples, and the story I am writing will include each of these characters, in detail, both in present day and previous lifetimes.

Maybe you have memories, glimpses, of previous lifetimes, but put it down to overactive imagination, remembering a book that you have read, or a television show or movie. Maybe it is just that, or maybe there is something more to this. There are courses and programs to do with past life regressions, where we can remember past lives, to better inform our current lives and situation. It that opportunistic people taking advantage of the vulnerable or is there something to this?

My point here is to consider our meetings with others, and the thoughts and feelings invoked. Especially when we think, ‘haven’t we met before?” Just for a moment, entertain the possibility. If this were to be true and more of us were in tune with this way of thinking, how would it change our approach to others? How more open would we be to endless possibilities?
