I intend to demonstrate an attitude of gratitude each and every day and in everything I do. We might think, these are nice words for a daily affirmation, but it doesn’t really mean anything. Aren’t daily affirmations just expressions, or sayings that don’t require anything of the person who reads or writes it, except to think, yeah that’s nice? My person experience is that yes, we can take these words at face value and read them, maybe think for a couple of minutes, how nice, and then go about our normal days without giving the words another thought. But, if we make a conscious effort to be grateful and thankful to the universe, mother earth, god or whichever deity we may speak to, we begin to notice a change in our lives. Say thank you, quietly or out loud, when the traffic light is green and lets us get to work on time. Say thank you, when we buy a coffee from the café on the corner. Be grateful for the sunshine that dries our clothes. Say a silent thank you each time we eat a meal. Acknowledge and give thanks for the cleaners that clean our workplace, for those who stock the shelves at the supermarket, for the person who makes our lunch.
The intent behind the words of the affirmation goes further than that. If we spend our days moaning, frustrated and cranky about having to go to work, family or friends who aren’t doing what we want them to, not having enough money for the house, car holiday we want, life in general will not be what we want. If however, we spend our days being grateful for what we have, and for a bright, happy, cheery and prosperous future, that is what we will enjoy. The universe gives us what we focus on, so if we focus on negative and not having enough, we will get more of the same. By focusing on things that we would like, things that make us happy and smile, the universe will give us more happiness and joy in our lives.
What’s more, when we imagine a positive outcome, like healing and recovering from illness, finding the house of our dreams, right relationships and the like, we find we are attracting these things to us. When we are grateful for the money in our wallet, we tend to find more money in unexpected places. When we give thanks for a good day, we get more good days. When we are happy that we have good relationships with friends and family, the relationships continue to improve. There are many other examples of how we can be thankful and the benefits of being grateful. So, when we set our intentions and read the words, feel the words, act the words, meditate the words and live the words.
